APPLICATION FOR NURSERY SERVICE FROM APRIL 2026
STARTS NOVEMBER 1

As for nursery schools (hoikusho or hoikuen) in Iruma, an annual special application period for admission for the next school year starting on April 1 is set during the first week of November. Admissions are decided in this selection process based on the levels of necessity for nursery service. Although you can apply for the service all year around, you will be admitted only when a vacant spot becomes available in a specific school. So, if you want to place your children in a nursery school, this is the time to get in the action. Follow the steps below and make sure of the admission.

アプリケーションフォーム

 STEPS TO GET ADMITTED

・Get a Copy of Guide for Childcare Facility Application: It is available on City’s website(https://www.city.iruma.saitama.jp/material/files/group/34/507moushikominotebikii.pdf) or at one of city main/branch offices.

・Choose facilities: Check the details of each facility (such as location, baby ages, service hours, and daily schedule) on the list, and find the most suitable facilities (up to third choice). You can observe facilities by making appointments by yourself.

・Prepare Papers Necessary for Application: (1) a set of completed forms and (2) document(s) that support the reason you require the nursery service (such as a certificate of employment or a doctor’s certificate etc.). Usually a certificate of employment takes some time to be issued after you apply for it at your company.

・Apply online: Apply on Website (use QR code above) or by postal mail between November 1 (Sat) and 7 (Fri).
Apply in person: You can apply in person at the Kenko Fukushi (Health & Welfare) Center between November 1 (Sat) and 5 (Wed). However, to avoid overcrowding, you need to make an appointment beforehand through the City’s official LINE account on and after October 15 (Wed) 9:00 a.m..

・Review and Selection Process: The need for childcare will be reviewed based on the documents submitted by applicants. If the number of applicants exceeds the number that each facility can accept, admission will be determined in order of the scores of the need for childcare.

・Results Mailed: The city office will mail the results of review and selection process. The notification will state which facility your child can attend or that you are not accepted at any facility. The second selection will be conducted, if any vacancy becomes available at childcare facilities due to cancellations or current children’s leaving.

・Interview: At a later date, parents and children will be interviewed at their admitted nursery to assess the child's health and development. If your child is deemed eligible for group childcare, admission will be confirmed.

・Start of Service: Nursery care starts with a period of "familiarization," and gradually extends the nursery hours. The period of familiarization varies depending on each child, but it usually takes about 1-2 weeks.
