You can also ask questions by email in your language by providing necessary information (anonymously if you prefer). Don’t miss this chance!

IT’S TIME TO THINK ABOUT 2025 FINAL TAX RETURNS
Some of saraly earners may have missed year-end adjustment (年末調整 ‘nenmatsu chosei’) for some reasons. Or you may want to apply for exemptions which your company cannot handle, such as exemptions for housing loans, high-cost medical expenses and overseas dependents. Or you may have your own business. All these need to file a final tax return by yourself by March 16 (Mon).
If you are not sure whether you should file a tax return, see and check your ‘proof of withholding tax’ (源泉徴収票 ‘gensen choshu hyo’), which all employees in Japan should have received by this month from your employer. This small paper includes practically every information about your income and taxes.
The Information Desk is happy to help you with your processing. Just bring all the related documents, including the gensen choshu hyo, a certificate of life insurance premium payment, receipts of medical expense, etc. At the Information Desk, we can fill out the form with you on the Taxation Office website, and print out the form so that you can send it to the Taxation Office by post. In February, you can submit your completed tax return form at several places in the city including the city office (check the schedule on the next COM+COM issue).
Note that to apply for dependent exemption for your overseas relatives, you need to prepare (1) “Documents Concerning Relatives” and (2) “Document Concerning Remittances.” When the relative is 30 years old or more and less than 70, the (2) remittance document must be 380,000 yen or more in total during the year.
Reservation is required to pick up your MY Number Card
Please make a reservation by phone (04-2968-3881) or online (https://mynum.e-tumo.jp/mynumpo-iruma-u/reserve/notice_initDisplayRedirect).
